Home Learning Resources & Materials

Updated 5/28:

Every Monday before 9:00am, I will be adding online weekly learning opportunities for students to access at home. You can find this assignment calendar on the left side of my page under "Weekly Home Learning Opportunities."

Families and students,

First off, I hope you know how much I miss seeing my students every day. I hope everyone is enjoying time with family and finding new and interesting ways to learn with their loved ones.

I will be uploading all documents and resources to my class page as well as our Class DOJO site or through email. Below are some quick links to resources we use in the classroom that are great for at home learning. If you click on the "
files and documents" tab, all resources can be found for online learning (including online websites, assignments, and activities).

If you click on the "Weekly Home Learning Opportunities" tab, you will find the document(s) for students to use weekly for daily assignments and activities in each subject area. There will be a new document every week, however students will be able to go back and work on past assignments.

As of right now, these are optional and only to guide you in your at home learning. Please continue to check here and class dojo for updates on assignments and activities.

Please feel free to email me at anytime with any questions, concerns, or for guidance while we navigate these new waters.
Email: coferjs@pwcs.edu or message me on Class Dojo

I greatly appreciate all of your support with this! Please continue to be patient with us as we navigate these uncharted waters and find the best way to reach your child with meaningful resources to learn from home.

We can do this! We are a team.
Stay safe.

Online Resources

Study Island
There are assignments from me or students may choose a topic to work on under VA programs.

There are assignments from me students can finish or complete or students may read from their "Reading Room" so they can 'level up.'

Epic Reading
Ms. Petko and myself have assigned the students some short books to read that relate to topics we have been working on in class. Students may also read full length books, listen to read aloud's, or listen to audiobooks. If your child needs the class code, please message me on Classdojo.

We will be assigning Nearpod activities in multiple subjects for students to complete for review. Please check the weekly home learning opportunities tab and your child's grade level document to find the codes for students to complete these nearpod assignments.

Scholastic Learn at Home
Scholastic has provided ~20 days worth of free reading activities including passages, activities, and virtual field trips for students to work through at home.

Scholastic Story Starter
Story Starters is a website where students are given a writing prompt to start their writing. Scholastic generates fun topics based on what genre students choose to write about.

Scholastic Write a Book Review
Students can use this link to write a book review on a book they have read and submit it to Scholastic's website.

SOLpass has study guides, review games, and practice tests/quizzes for the students to use for Reading and VA Studies.

Welcome to Fourth and Fifth Grade Language Arts and Social Studies!  We will have a great year of learning and fun.  Together, you and I will help your child soar in their learning.  I look forward to partnering with you and your child throughout the school year.

My Profile
I am very excited to be your child's language arts and social studies teacher. This is my second year at Leesylvania and I am excited for a great school year of learning and growing together in the classroom.

School buildings are closed to staff and students for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Please refer to the Documents and Links tab on my class page for resources and activities for your child to continue working on at home.
